U.S. tariff tracker · Last checked 29 October 2026

What U.S. tariffs apply to home goods from China, Vietnam and Taiwan right now?

For goods entered since 24 July 2026, products of China and Vietnam pay the normal HTS duty plus a 12.5% Section 301 duty, and China-made goods can also carry the 2018–2019 Section 301 duties and, for petroleum wax candles, an antidumping duty. Products of Taiwan are topped up to a combined 10% where the normal duty is lower, and pay no extra Section 301 duty where it is 10% or more. A U.S.–China import list announced in September 2026 is still waiting for rates and an effective date.

We update this page every month and whenever a Federal Register notice changes a rate in our categories. The exact 10-digit HTS line decides the duty, so confirm yours with your customs broker before you cost an order.

How each origin is treated

  • China. Normal HTS duty, plus the 2026 Section 301 duty of 12.5% (heading 9903.05.31), plus the 2018–2019 Section 301 duties on listed lines. USTR confirmed on 7 October 2026 that the 2018 China actions remain in effect. Many ceramic mugs and some glassware sit on List 4B, which never took effect.
  • Vietnam. Normal HTS duty plus the 2026 Section 301 duty of 12.5% (heading 9903.05.84). The China-only duties do not apply to goods genuinely made in Vietnam. We do not transship: what we ship from Vietnam is made in Vietnam, with a Certificate of Origin on every shipment.
  • Taiwan. Under headings 9903.05.75 and 9903.05.76, the Section 301 duty tops the total up to 10% where the normal duty is below 10%, and is zero where the normal duty is 10% or more. Taiwan also has its own exemption list (Annex II, Part K).
  • All three. The 2026 duty has exemptions, including goods covered by Section 232 metal tariffs. We did not find candles, ceramic tableware or glassware among the general exemptions; check your line in Annexes I and II.

How we use these numbers

We cost every program on duty-paid numbers for each origin and agree the tariff line with the buyer before we cost an item, not after the goods reach the port. China remains a core base; Vietnam is our second origin; Taiwan is where our marble comes from. The duty stack is one input, alongside capability, lead time and quality, in placing each item where it is strongest.

Frequently asked questions

How often is this tracker updated?

We check it every month and whenever a Federal Register notice changes a rate that affects candles, ceramic tableware, glassware, marble or home fragrance products. The date at the top of the page is the last check.

How does the 2026 Section 301 duty work for goods from Taiwan?

For products of Taiwan the duty tops the total up to 10%. If the normal HTS duty is below 10%, the Section 301 duty fills the gap to 10%; if the normal duty is 10% or more, the Section 301 duty is zero. Taiwan also has its own exemption list in Annex II, Part K, of the July 2026 notice, so check your line there.

Are electric diffusers and wax warmers on the U.S. import list agreed with China in September 2026?

The list published on 27 September 2026 includes HTS 8509.80.50 (electromechanical domestic appliances not elsewhere specified) and 8516.79.00 (electrothermic domestic appliances not elsewhere specified), the lines where many electric diffusers and wax warmers are classified. As of 29 October 2026 no new rate or effective date had been published in the Federal Register, and your own classification decides whether an item falls under those lines.

Does a lower rate for Vietnam or Taiwan apply to goods shipped through those countries?

No. Duty follows the country of origin, where the goods are made or substantially transformed, not the port of loading. What we ship from Vietnam is made in Vietnam, and every shipment travels with a Certificate of Origin.
